Unique and chic with a twist… If you want to charm the socks off some lovely person who has caught your eye, La Gare is an original choice to do so (and an effective one, but I won’t go into details here!). What, you’ve never heard of La Gare? Then you must not read the press, which has been unanimously enthusiastic about the restaurant since its opening. It’s a stunning place, located at 19, chaussée de la Muette in the 16th arrondissement, partway between a haven of romantic peace and a trendy spot to see and be seen…

First of all, La Gare has a unique interior design. The quays, bathed in mysterious light, house extravagant lounges trimmed with red curtains. The LCD screens, luxurious furniture and bold styling are certainly impressive, but they don’t explain the magical ambience of the space. No matter where you are sitting, the layout offers an impression of surprising intimacy for such a large restaurant (it seats 240!).

Or perhaps it’s the lighting? The indescribable ambience? For some reason, at La Gare, girls look even more beautiful and men feel even more handsome. You slip into the skin of 007, accompanied by some sublime and dangerous creature… “Champagne, Mister Bond?” – “Yes, with pleasure” (and the glass of champagne is complimentary with your reservation: international spies have their share of secrets!). And we haven’t even mentioned the menu…

The man behind the menu is Pierre Alain Garnier, a master who learned the tricks of the trade with Robuchon, Briffard and Yoshino. Pull out all the stops: recommend that your guest begin with the marinated tiger prawns with mango, soya and lime cream or the light cream of lentils and pan-fried foie gras escalope. Her eyes are already twinkling! Make the most of the moment to offer scallops with their risotto and scallop roe sauce or the farm veal tenderloin for its tender flavour, green asparagus tips and…gingered carrots. You’re doing well and you’ll get an extra boost from the ultra-attentive service and knowledgeable advice in your choice of wine. The rest of the night belongs to you!

As for us, we’d like to add that the desserts are just as good (try the moist chocolate cake with pure Valrhona guanaja chocolate and its vanilla ice cream – pure pleasure on a plate!) and the bill is mighty lean for such quality.

To sum it up, La Gare is an exceptional place that surpasses time and judgments but that remains within your budget. Of course, you’re sure to have a great time if you dine there with friends… But for a first visit, we recommend going there on a date!

I’ve gone several times and I’ve never been disappointed. I think that’s the thing about La Gare. The first time, you go for the setting, but then you return for the food, the variety of the dishes and the quality (and also for the chic ambience that really knocks you out, while the prices remain extremely reasonable).

La Gare is great. At first, when I saw the decoration (which is magnificent, don’t get me wrong), I thought that this was just another uber-trendy hotspot, but this isn’t the case at all. The service is great and the food is even better than in some restaurants where you pay double or quadruple the price.

Whether it’s the welcome, the decoration or the quality of the food, everything is done to satisfy the customer. A varied menu with high-quality products. An ambience that is both refined and relaxed. A great place.

La Gare is a wonderful place where you can enjoy a more than decent meal without breaking the bank. I’ve eaten there with clients and friends – and everyone loved it.

A message for you men out there (women, close your eyes): if you want to really impress a girl you like, invite her to La Gare. The setting is luxurious, trendy and classy, the food is excellent and refined – simply delicious – and the wine is wonderful. And she’ll have an even better impression of you because you took her to such an amazing place.
